![]() ![]() But also, with my own trauma and feelings, it just sort of rubbed me the wrong way. It is handled in truly what I view as an ideal way. So, SPOILERS: Rune is forced to relive his sexual assault (at least in part), and shortly after that he has a discussion with a love interest wherein the love interest apologizes for his sexual advances knowing Rune’s past and promises to back off… and then like one scene later they have sex. There is one thing that I disliked about this book (which, like, only one? hell yeah what a good book). (And the bad guys? I hate them so passionately.) I can’t pick a favorite, because all of the main cast are amazing. They carry the story and their relationships feel so real and genuine. The characters are the strongest aspect of this book. Because I’m high key invested not only in the world it has created but in the characters, who I adore. I’m honestly not usually into books with a lot of worldbuilding, because I tend to get frustrated when I have to learn new things on the fly (yes this is one of my many negative traits), but this series came highly recommended, and I’m so glad I stuck it out through the first few pages. So, trigger warnings: sexual assault (graphic moments as well as multiple mentions), eating disorders, and mind control (including control of sex slaves). ![]() I should know to look them up for myself before I read. I don’t blame it for that, though while I do wish books came with handy dandy trigger warnings, they often don’t. ![]()
